Objective I
- More efficient provision of disaster – resilient water supplies to vulnerable communities
Establishment demonstration RHW Systems in Schools
25 schools were visited and assessed out of which 16 schools were selected from Badulla, Monaragala and Kilinochchi districts. 15 * 30,000L RWH tanks were constructed. 4532 students and 355 teachers have access to clean drinking water through RWHs. Accordingly 16 awareness programs were conducted covering 856 parents and teachers. 806 students and teachers were trained on O&M of RWHS through 15 programs..

Establishment of 5 demonstration RWH system in Rural hospitals / Medical clinic
08 hospitals were visited and assessed. 05 hospitals were selected for construction of RWHs in Badulla, Monaragala and Kilinochchi districts, Covering 510 patients and 39 staff members who now have access to clean drinking water. 05 awareness programs were conducted covering 86 medical staff on the benefits and practices of RWHs. 1675 patients who visit monthly clinics and 39 staff of hospitals will have access to clean drinking water source through the 06 RWHs. 07 O&M training were completed covering 72 hospital staff and village community on O&M of RWHs.

Construction of 120 Domestic Rain Water Harvesting Systems
06 awareness programs were conducted. 200 Beneficiaries were made aware on rain water harvesting and its uses and 123 selected beneficiaries were given instruction on construction process. 120 * 8,000L tanks were built benefiting 200 beneficiaries with safe drinking water. 07 O&M programs conducted through which 73 householders were trained on operation and maintenance of RWHs.
Rehabilitate 300 disused RWH Systems
214 disused RWH systems were selected resulting in 214 householders obtaining access to the safe drinking water. 255 disused RWHS repaired resulting in 255 households obtaining access to safe drinking water through rehabilitating the RWHs. 06 awareness programs were conducted resulting in making 95 households aware on benefits and practices of RWHs.
Objective II
- Strengthened capacity of disaster – prone communities and institutionalization of DRR policies and practices related flood and drought management
Build capacity of officials and professionals on rain water harvesting technology
02 training program on RWHS conducted for officials in Badulla & Moneragala districts. 153 government officials were trained on RWH and its practices.
Build capacity of community and school children to reduce the risk of disaster through establish mobile weather stations in 1 school
1 school was selected in Kilinochchi through which 786 Students and 48 teachers were made aware on weather patterns and changes. 17 school students, teachers, electrician and development officers DMC were made aware on how to operate, obtain data and maintain the weather station through the O&M program conducted.
