New Project to provide 100 RWH Systems in Ampara

LRWHF recently launched a project to improve the domestic water supply to households affected by the tsunami in Peeriyanelawani area, in Ampara District through introduction of rain water harvesting (RWH).

The objectives of the proposed project is to improve the domestic water supply to households affected by the tsunami in  Peeriyanelawani area through introduction of rain water harvesting (RWH)  systems.

Project activities include;

  1. Awareness programs: Awareness programs for the officials of government and non-government organizations, community and in schools to introduce the technology.
  2. Training of ten masons from the area on construction of rain water harvesting systems.
  3. Construction of 5 m3 sized 100 RWH systems for 100 households.
  4. Operation and Maintenance Training for each household.

The project duration is 5 months. This project is funded by the Malteser International.
